Plugins Architecture

AjaXplorer offers a wide range of plugins for connecting to various storage backends, creating bridges with existing CMS’s, adding editors to support preview of various file mimetypes…. Among others!
Plugins are more thoughts as features, and in fact the very core classes of the application is not so big… : even the GUI itself is a plugin, making it possible to reimplement or override some very low level features.
Plugins are mostly developed by the core team, and the contributed ones are carefully tested before being proposed, to avoid you waisting your time installing a non-working plugin or security leaks.

Bridge with CMS : WordPress/Joomla/Drupal

A lot of  nowaday websites rely on well-known open-source Content Management System. In that case, you may already have a whole bunch of users defined in your CMS, and you do not want to re-create these users inside your AjaXplorer installation. This is « SSO » (single sign-on) and it can be achieved by the AjaXplorer « auth.remote » plugin, coupled with a dedicated plugin/module (depending on their namings) on the CMS side. These modules are developed for you!

Extend the framework

The OSGI-like architecture make it simple to declare a set of feature on both client and server-side using XML files. With all its PHP resources dedicated to unification of data access, AjaXplorer can be used to quickly develop any data-driven client-server applications with a rich interface.

The client-side PrototypeJS based framework is also very flexible and a standard widget consist only of a couple of interfaces to implement, allowing a great freedom in term of layout and behaviour.

Native clients

There are two native clients for accessing AjaXplorer : one for Apple iOS (iPhone, iPad, iPod), and one for Android devices.
Unlike the rest of the framework, they are not free nor open-source, as it’s a way for me to get some financial rewards on the time I spent on this project! Donations are NOT coming a lot, thus spending one or two euro/dollar does not seem to me the end of the world…
